Players and Pretenders
(2 - 3 years)
Our Players and Pretenders (toddlers) rooms, are vibrant, engaging spaces where children begin to explore the world with growing curiosity. Our team of eight nursery assistants, including room leader Vicky and deputy room leader Darcie, provide a nurturing and stimulating environment where toddlers begin to take steps towards independence, social skills and emotional resilience.
We focus on supporting children as they develop essential skills around communication and problem-solving, including self-help. Through a variety of play-based experiences such as role-play, small-world play, structured games, creative and tactile exploration and, of course, lots of stories, songs and rhymes, toddlers have the opportunity to express themselves and build confidence.
We recognise that this stage of development can bring challenges, and our team is dedicated to helping each child navigate their emotions with care and understanding. The key person system continues to play a vital role in fostering secure relationships, allowing toddlers to feel supported as they explore new social dynamics and gain confidence in their abilities.
The routine in our Players and Pretenders group includes a mid-day sleep, allowing those children who need it, the opportunity recharge in a quiet, comforting environment. The children spend time in the meadow every morning and afternoon and this period of rest ensures that they have the energy for a full and active day of learning.
