Tarnerland Nursery School is an outstanding education and childcare provider for children from 3 months to 5 years of age. It is funded by the Brighton and Hove Local Education Authority in partnership with the council’s Children’s and Family Services and is closely linked to the Tarner Family Hub. The nursery has a long established reputation of providing quality early education and care which we are delighted to maintain, reflected again in our April 2026 Ofsted report;

This is particularly pleasing because, as a maintained nursery school, we have to meet the strict criteria of a full school inspection. Our success is due to the outstanding practice of our well-qualified, experienced and committed staff team. The Headteacher has a long career in teaching with significant experience around inclusion and her deputy, the Nursery Manager, has a successful background in children’s services.

At our nursery school, we believe that every child and family deserves to feel safe, valued, welcomed and included. We are committed to the vision of the School of Sanctuary movement, creating a place where children and families seeking sanctuary, alongside all members of our community, experience a sense of belonging and respect.
